On December 6th, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kamil Mansoor Yousif, lecturer at the Environmental Science Dept. at the University of Zakho, participated in a workshop on Development of Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP) for 3 Iraqi Governorates in Kurdistan Region. This workshop is a part of Local Area Development Programme (LADP) financed by the European Union and implemented by UNDP.
Dr. Kamil Mansoor Yousif, accompanied by his PhD Student- Berivan Hadi, participated in the above workshop.
The workshop was held in Duhok Governorate, and lasted for 3 days from 6th to 8th of December, 2016.
Dr. Yousif shared actively in the workshop and discussed the presented ideas. He was also able to highlight how renewable energy (RE) and Environmental Science can Support and develop the above Development Programme.
He suggest that, the energy efficiency, RE and emission reduction considerations should be taken into consideration for all new developments. In LADP, we will use the results of the Baseline Emission Inventory to identify the best fields of action and opportunities for reaching the local authority’s CO2 reduction target.
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Kamil M. Yousif, participated in other workshops/ meetings during the last months which was held in Duhok Governorate in which various topics concerning energy and Environment were presented.
The workshop was a good opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences, and planning for future studies in Kurdistan of Iraq, through contacting with and meeting the experts in various fields.
